Choice of media(1 installation based )

The media I chosen from his artwork is YMYI (You Move You Interact) it is an interactive installation art that consist sound, graphic, and animation that can interact by user (real time).

How is the installation work?

The whole installation consists projector screen, speaker, computer, they use Processingjs as their programming language (http://processingjs.org )Microsoft Kinect (used to track the z depth information of the user interactions.) the installation will detect the human gesture and transform it into animation in various way. This installation can have 1 more people to interact with it.

My personal comment:

The installation gives user freedom to explore the art by moving our gesture. If we compare with the static art that we usually seen on the art gallery, their art is always have the certain meaning only, but in YMYI , people can interact and create art based on their creativity, and also give different expression and feeling if we experience it at different venue or different time.

The YMYI give me an inspiration that 1 installation art can actually communicate into many message. People appreciate art is very personal and subjective. In now days, art can actually interact with people and respond to people when interact with it.

For my opinion, this installation art can add more color to make it more dynamic and more interesting, from what I browse on the internet, the sound is only consists ambience sound only, if add the sound effect from the instrument like piano, drum, and guitar etc, I think this will make the installation art more interesting.

ARTWORK BY JOAO MARTINHO MOURA

HTML5 Visual Art - ”Transversal Lines, 2011 "

Transversal Lines: infinite abstract visual black & white line work,
by artist João Martinho Moura, 2011.

This is the Processing language created by Ben Fry and Casey Reas.

This artwork is created using HTML 5, and the artwork need to be open in browser to see it.

Personal comment:

This is the artwork appear in Media based. It create a random artwork every time you open it , although the line and structure and size is always the same, but the position and the length of the artwork is not same that give people different visual feeling every time they play it.

Conception:

YMYI (You Move You Interact) is an interactive installation, user have to interact with the machine or the installation art to perform a new art. The project let people to create their own creativity. The artwork use line and dot as the animation to direct people into a new experience and let people feel it. The installation also consists music that emphasis the atmosphere.

The concept the written by the Joao Martinho Moura

"It narrates a story, the story of a living organism unexpectedly astonished by performing its own change status while representing an object. However, what strikes the most is the fact that the knowing entity responsile for the act of astonishing is only created throughout the astonishment narration process."
